Ingredients:

  • Lean beef - 300 Grams
  • Potatoes - 3-4 Pieces
  • Cabbage - 200 Grams
  • Onion - 1 Piece
  • Carrots - 1 Piece
  • Beets - 1 Piece
  • Garlic - 2-3 Cloves
  • Greens - To taste
  • Tomatoes - To taste (you can drink fruit drinks, fresh tomatoes or tomato paste)
  • Salt and Spices - To taste
  • Vegetable oil - To taste (for frying)

How to cook "Lean beef borscht"

1. Dip the meat into cold water and bring to a boil. Remember to skim off the foam. After boiling, add bay leaf, salt and spices to taste, leave the meat to simmer over low heat for one hour. 2. Chop onions and carrots and send them to fry in vegetable oil. 3. While onions and carrots are fried, chop the beets. Vegetables can be cut with a knife or grated (as you wish). 4. Send the beets to the vegetables, fry with constant stirring, and in the meantime chop the tomatoes. I had frozen tomatoes ready, you can add those too. If there are no tomatoes, add pasta. 5. When the vegetables are slightly browned, add half a glass of water. Simmer vegetables for 5 minutes over low heat, then set aside the sauté pan and make the broth. 6. Lean beef cook for about 1-1.5 (check doneness with a knife). When the meat is cookedtake it out and send it into the broth, diced potatoes.
